First of all, hi to any who’ve ventured here after meeting me this weekend at the Atlanta Writers Conference! It was great getting to meet and chat with so many authors, and I can’t wait to see your names on book spines in the future 🙂
So, if you haven’t guessed (or haven’t been paying attention), I went to the Atlanta Writers Conference down at the Westin Airport Atlanta this weekend. It was absolutely amazing. The Q&A panels were excellent, the workshops and seminars were helpful, and the group of editors and agents was outstanding. I had an absolutely wonderful time and got some great feedback. I’m still processing everything, and I’m glad I had the chance to spend my Mothers’ Day enjoying downtime with my family on the lake.
Over the course of the weekend, I also had the pleasure of meeting with several agents and authors, one of which was Jessica Williams from William Morrow, an imprint of Harper Collins. She loved what she read of Lysistrata…but, alas, she doesn’t do Urban Fantasy (she’s more of a Lit Fic, Upmarket Fic editor). However, she did insist I go home and find myself an agent and get this thing published.
Oh, at the end of the weekend each agent and author got to award a certificate for the best manuscript submission and the best pitch they heard during the conference. I, uh, sort of got this:
So, now I’m going to go read and go to bed, and tomorrow I wake up and get back to work. My query letter needs some serious work before I send it out to agents and I have a lot to do to keep this momentum going.
Sounds like an awesome time! I’m looking forward to getting back into the con circuit again. Congrats on the award! And I totally agree, get that thing published! It’s so cool! 😀

We should totally be agent-hunting accountability partners.
Yes! That would be excellent!
